gerry sims died 3rd sept 05 aged 54,my dad was the best dad,the best grandad gerry,the best husband.,no matter what i'd done dad was always there for me & stood by me even when he didnt agree with what i was doing.dad got terminal cancer he expected to live 6 months but he battled on for 4 years,i remember him saying he only hung on for me & the kids-and he did.we had our last family holiday in june 05,me,karl & the kids went for the 1st week of his 2 week holiday,dad did great even though by then he got out of breath easily & needed to take oxygen with him,our week was great,dad sunbathed by the pool all day,and he drank every night all night with us.we had time to talk,dad told me he didnt think he would last the summer out-but i thought he had much longer than that.dad's 2nd week when we had gone home he got bad he needed his oxygen all the time & didnt really leave his hotel room-how different from the 1st week,now i know he was keeping himself well for me & the kids while we were there,when he got home he got worse & worse until he went into a hospice-even though i knew he was very ill i still didnt think that within a week he would be gone,dad was right again-he didnt make it past the summer.linda his wife kept telling him to hang on for his birthday & he did but he also died that day to.There are so many things i wish i had said even though i knew time was running out,i didnt know it could hurt this much not having you here with us,i love you dad & i hope your ok wherever you are,love claire
